The Museum has an increasingly significant
collection of contemporary art that includes works by artists such as Duane Hanson, Richard Hamilton, Keith Haring,
Alfredo Jaar, Ilya Kabakov, Richard Long, Claes Oldenburg, Beverly Pepper. Larry Rivers, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Nancy
Spero, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol.
In 2002, the gift from Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Brownstone of 52 mainly Minimalist paintings, sculptures, and drawings
profoundly amplified the representation of that important movement in late twentieth-century art. Included in the gift
were outstanding examples of both European and American artists such as Josef Albers, John Michael Armleder, Larry Bell,
Lucio Fontana, Michael Heizer, Gottfried Honegger, Imi Knoebel, Sol LeWitt, Allan MacCollum, John McCracken, Olivier
Mosset, Jean-Pierre Raynaud, Gerhard Richter, and Edward Ruscha.
