Eric Fischl/ The Colors of Darkness: Bonnard’s Struggle Towards Light

For acclaimed artist Eric Fischl, Pierre Bonnard’s black and white photographs reveal a profoundly uncomfortable man. With that as backdrop, Bonnard’s paintings of breathtaking color reveal a true battle between the darkness of his soul and his will toward light and release through beauty. Fischl speaks of Bonnard’s paintings in terms of his existential struggle between those polarities.

This talk is offered in relation to the Museum’s current special exhibition Artists in Motion: Impressionist and Modern Masterpieces from the Pearlman Collection, as well as the Museum’s work by Bonnard, The Beach at St. Tropez.

Seating is limited. Online registration required.

Sick Puppies Comedy from The Doghouse Theater

Prepare yourself for a whole new way of looking at art! The Norton welcomes the Sick Puppies Comedy team from Doghouse Theater to do improv based on artwork in the Collection. We provide the artwork and they will create humorous stories and scenes on the spot without any script or plans.

Doghouse Theater is the home of Sick Puppies Comedy, who have served the Boca/Delray area for nearly a decade. Sick Puppies has a number of all-star teams, performing the widest array of improv around; from Chicago-style to improvised musicals, there is a show for everyone. Doghouse Theater also provides improv classes, as well as sketch writing, standup comedy and more. There are shows every Friday and Saturday night in the Historic District of Delray just north of Atlantic.
