Artist Talk
Join us for a lively conversation between Nora Maité Nieves, the Norton’s 2023-24 Mary Lucille Dauray Artist-in-Residence and Carla Acevedo-Yates, Marilyn and Larry Fields Curator at Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, who will discuss Nieves’ solo exhibition at the Norton, Clouds in the Expanded Field.

Parranda
Join a traditional Puerto Rican parranda, which is the Puerto Rican version of caroling, in honor of Three Kings Day and our Artist in Residence Nora Maité Nieves. Starting near Stiller Auditorium, David Lucca and a small group of musicians from Plena Es will lead a parranda to Reyes Gallery to see Clouds in the Expanded Field.

Music
Plena Es, founded by Pierre Ramos in 2004, is a high-energy Latin dance band from South Florida. The group specializes in the Puerto Rican percussion-based styles of bomba and plena. Other band members include David Lucca (co-bandleader, musical director and conga player), Somar Poveda (trombone), Daniel Lopez (trombone), Gamalier Reyes (tumbador), Raul Galimore (piano) and Mike Rivera (bass). Plena Es has also played with other important musicians, such as Willie Colón and Tito Puente.
Plena Es served as the Artists-in-Residence for HistoryMiami Museum from January through March of 2015 and as Artists-in-Residence for the Florida Folklife Program in partnership with Florida State University’s Center for Music of the Americas in 2017. Members have also performed with the Miami Marlins Pachanga Band.

Hours: The museum is currently open to the public until 10 pm on Friday nights.
Entry: Admission during Art After Dark is $10 for Adults & Seniors, $5 for Students. Free for Members. Tickets may be purchased at the Reception Desk or reserved in advance.

Parking: Parking is available in the Norton’s main parking lot at 1501 South Dixie Highway, immediately across the street from the Museum. Parking is $6 per car, per day. Norton Members park for free.
Food and drink: The Restaurant at the Norton offers indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of our Sculpture Garden. Along with great food, The Restaurant serves creative cocktails, wine, and champagne. Reservations available through Tock.
