  • Jazz Friday / Diego Melgar Trio

The Diego Melgar Trio creates a sound collage that weaves together electronic explorations, standards, ambient soundscapes, hyper-real improvisations and driving dance music.

The Diego Melgar Trio (also known as Eris, the group's electronic alter ego) is a reflection of the unique musical environment they have found themselves in. Diego Melgar (guitar), Marty Quinn (bass), and Gibb Mandish (drums) first worked together in a traditional straight ahead jazz context as members of the scene in South Florida. After years of playing and growing together, as well as being influenced by the electronic music of Miami and hyper-real elements of contemporary music, the trio has forged a unique sonic palette that pushes the guitar trio tradition, rooted in the works of Wes Montgomery and Grant Green, towards a digital utopian future.
