Mini Course: Light, Art, and Installation with Dr. Nathan Timpano

This three-lecture series explores light art sculptures, installation art, and international precursors to the California Light and Space Movement in relation to the Norton's special exhibition Laddie John Dill: Eastern Standard Time. In addition to examining Dill's works, the mini-course reviews art produced by the Uruguayan-Argentinian art group MADÍ, Dan Flavin, Dorothy and Mel Tanner, and James Turrell, among others.

Nathan Timpano is Chair of Art & Art History and Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Miami (UM), as well as a guest curator at UM's Lowe Art Museum. His research focuses on the history of modern art and visual culture(s), with a specialty in German and Austrian Symbolism and Expressionism.
