Teacher Workshop / Educator as Boxer: Exploring Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing

Friday, November 8 / 4:30PM-6:30PM

Join the Norton Museum of Art for a teacher workshop inspired by the special exhibition Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing. Learn about works of art by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Bellows, and Rosalyn Drexler. Many of the artists in the exhibition compare their art practice and identity to boxing. Educators often face the same challenges. After a tour of the exhibition, educators will participate in a workshop led by Ashley Witherspoon of Hand Made DreamsMs. Witherspoon is a licensed social worker who started The Art Wellness Exchange© program, leveraging art to build mental health awareness.

Ashley Witherspoon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Hand Made Dreams, a wellness platform dedicated to bringing mental health awareness to everyday spaces.
