How to Bid:
- Bidding for May Flowers is a sealed-bid process, available directly through the Museum.
- Bids are by email only to: [email protected].
- Bidding closes at 4pm EST on Monday, February 8, 2021.
- You may email as many bids as you like, but as a sealed-bid process you will not be informed if you are overbid. All bids are collected confidentially and will not be viewed until after the closing. The Museum will then contact the high bidder. If two bids are equal, the earliest bid will be accepted.
- The winning bidder is responsible for applicable sales tax and shipping (if necessary), but otherwise there are no additional premiums or fees.

Overview
The Norton Museum of Art’s 80th Anniversary Art Auction includes over 90 exceptional works generously donated by some of the pre-eminent artists, private collectors, and galleries in South Florida and the world. Lots include paintings, sculpture, photographs, drawings, mixed-media, jewelry, watches, and additional exclusive items.
Auction proceeds will benefit the Norton’s curatorial and exhibition program, its commitment to showcasing and supporting emerging artists, and diversity initiatives. This includes the groundbreaking Recognition of Art by Women (RAW) exhibition series which since its inception in 2011 has offered solo museum surveys to Jenny Saville (2011), Sylvia Plimack Mangold (2012), Phyllida Barlow (2013), Klara Kristalova (2015), Njideka Akunyili Crosby (2016), Svenja Deininger (2017), Nina Chanel Abney (2019), and Maria Berrio (2021).
Preview at the Norton
While the auction lots are available to browse online on Sothebys.com, auction works are also on exhibition at the Norton Museum of Art to preview in person through Sunday, February 7. The Museum is open Friday – Sunday.
How to Browse and Bid Online
Browse. You can find and browse the auction by searching “Norton Museum of Art” on Sothebys.com or on the Sotheby’s app. You do not need a Sothebys.com account to browse.
Bid. You do need a Sothebys.com account to bid. The first time you place a bid you will be asked to either log in or create a new account on Sothebys.com or the Sotheby’s app. Bidding opens at 10am EST January 25, and lots will begin to close at 12pm EST February 8.
Select the lots you wish to bid on and place your maximum bid. The online platform will place incremental bids on your behalf up to the maximum amount specified. Use the ‘Quick Bid’ feature to increase your bid to the next increment.
Watch your bids! If you are outbid, you will be notified on the auction catalogue page, by email, and by push notifications (if enabled on your smartphone).
After your lot has closed, you will be notified on the auction and lot detail pages as well as via email. If you are the winning bidder, you will receive an invoice from the Norton Museum of Art shortly after the auction including your total charges along with payment and property collection instructions.
