John I. Leonard Guia Partnership
This partnership encourages conversations around Hispanic and Latin American art and allows students to explore themes of heritage and identity.
In collaboration with John I. Leonard High School teachers and administrators, the Norton Museum of Art invites International Spanish Academy students in 11th and 12th grades to participate in the Guía Program every fall. During an 8-week humanities class at school (conducted in English and Spanish) students learn all about teaching from works of art. Then students can work at the museum, leading conversations with visitors in Spanish and English about certain art pieces in the Galleries. This paid opportunity allows students to gain public speaking skills and awareness of working in a professional setting.
